Spain 'to suffer less than other eurozone nations'

According to the Spanish Tourist Officer (STO), the country has established its status as a holiday destination for British visitors, which means that it will not see a sudden downfall in the number of visitors experienced by other eurozone countries.

STO’s promotions executive, Paco Gutierrez, told reporters that city breaks to Barcelona and Madrid are among Spain’s selling points, besides holiday resorts in around Andalusia and Malaga.

Further, Paco said the decline in value of the pound against European currency has made eurozone countries less attractive to Brits.

Mr. Gutierrez said, “For the independent tourists, you can buy a cheap flight and go out there and stay in cheap and cheerful hotels, bed and breakfasts and hostels.”

He added, “The thing about Spain is that most people know and love it because they have been there before and [as a result it will] suffer less than other eurozone countries.”

As per the latest reports issued by the Office for National Statistics, Spain and France hold about 36% of all visits abroad by British tourists.
