Failing to pay debt, Alma Tour made almost 1,000 passengers stranded at Bulgarian Sea Airports in Burgas and Varna.
Flights of these passengers were cancelled by Bulgaria Air to whom Alma Tour owes EUR 3.6mn. The incident took place in September and earlier in this month, Bulgaria Air said Alma Tour was not ready to pay them loan which was more than USD 25 million.
Bulgaria Air is not alone and is formed of group of companies like the Bulgarian Commercial Corporate Bank and is headed by Chimimport. Earlier, it was said that they would take over Alma Tour but Bulgaria Air refuted these comments and even cancelled those comments that they were planning to take control of the assets that has been kept as security with Bulgaria Air.
Chimimport said its relation with Alma Tour started deteriorating in 2011. But, Chimimport authorities always showed patience and till now, they are in no mood to take our Alma Tour assets.
Alma Tour kept on organizing services with the help of other service providers and at the end Bulgarian government had to intervene and warned passengers to use its services.
