There was a recent request made by Brufau to the energy regulators from Span for the investigation of the matter of increased stakes of Petroleos Mexicanos in Repsol YPF SA, the oil producing firm The Spanish firm has however ruled out the request which could’ve taken months to be completed.
It has been revealed by the Comision Nacional de Energia that Repsol doesn’t have a stake so big in the regulating utility in Spain that it could trigger a probe of firms that are non EU and have gained substantial shares in their firms. Repsol is the largest natural gas supplier in Spain together with SDG.
“This eliminates one obstacle to the agreement and is positive given Sacyr has to work on its refinancing”, said a strategist, Francisco Salvador from Madrid. It has been revealed that after these recent developments, there was a surge seen in the shares of Sacyr by 0.9%. On the other hand, there was a drop of 0.2 5 seen in the shares of Repsol. This was a defensive move on the part of Repsol, but it didn’t seem to materialize.
It was revealed by a spokesperson from the firm, Kristian Rix that such a deal should’ve been subjected to scrutiny before a final call was made.
