Fear over Volcanic Eruption at Canary Islands

Residents and tourists at Spain's Canary Islands have been shifted to safer places due to fear over volcanic eruptions that might take place after the recent earthquakes.

As a lot of irregular landslide cases have been witnessed at Pico de Malpaso Mountain the authorities fear over the eruption of the volcano at the Atlantic island of El Hierro, so lot of preparations have been made which involves shifting of the residents.

A tourist from Germany Tuengen Maier stated, "We were having some wine yesterday evening when the Civil Guard told us to leave the house because we were too close to the mountain".

The residents have been living a scary life due to the frequent earthquakes. They have revealed that especially during the night time rumbling and different kinds of sounds can be heard which makes it difficult for them to sleep.

According to a municipal official, 53 residents and tourists have been shifted to a safer place.

Also, Defense Ministry is making all types of plans to help residents as preparations have already been made for nearly 2,000 people. The Defense Minister will soon visit the place to check out the preparations being done and meanwhile, nearly 31 defense officials are already at the place to assist the evacuation work.
