Barcelona Looking Forward to Ban Bull Fighting

Barcelona Government is looking forward to prohibit the traditional bull fight from next year.

A ban has already been imposed in the region of Catalonia, and is due to be effective from next year. The bull fighting tradition is 600-year-old, which started in the year 1387.

The authorities plan to kill special breed bull used for fighting in the city, with hope of witnessing a better future. This year's fight was witnessed by 18,000 people, where 3 matadors were seen participating in the fight. This year, spectators paid an amount of _3500 for every ticket to witness the show.

The people of the region are not in favor of prohibition as they consider the ban as violation of social freedom. Whereas, several people considered the tradition as barbaric and support the decision, which emphasized on banning the traditional practice.

The practice has resulted in killing of thousands of bulls so far, and 8 bull fighters had also died in the fight. Authorities will be restoring head portion of the last bull as symbol of bull fighting, the other body parts of the bull will be sent to butcher where they are expected to be bought at high prices by customers.

As per the El Mundo newspaper statement, ''The parliament banned bullfighting because it is a Spanish fiesta, not to protect animals".
