Spanish Wind Energy Targets 1,400 Megawatts

Spanish energy sector has received a draft regulation from the government which has set targets that would allow wind energy of 1,400 megawatts between 2013 and 2020.
The Industry Ministry has notified that the main intentions are to ensconce 11,200 MW during the times to make sure 35,000 MW have been operating by 2020. This would cost the sector around 800 million euros during the eight years. Also, the pool price will not be reduced with the initiation of the technology and the system will ensure long-term stability in the sector, the ministry said.
The draft regulation has also notified that alteration has been done in the wind power facilities payment sector also. The installations will be trading the energy at pool prices and will be given premium though the price and the premium will face a limit that would be set for them.
According to the draft, "Wind energy technology has reached a level of maturity which will allow it to compete with conventional technologies in the market in a very short time".
Wind energy sector association AEE revealed that with the initiation of the new regulations the sector will face a lot of job cuts that would affect the economy.
