Players and League of Italy’s Serie Locked over a New Collective Bargaining Agreement

Since the last collective contract lasted in June 2010, the conflict between the players and the league is on. Two dates were set by the players for strike during the first half of last season, but both of them were avoided with last-minute verbal agreements.

Well among the 18 top-flight clubs, only two clubs, Cagliari and Siena, have accepted this collective contract and rest of the clubs are firm on making two changes in the text of this latest collective contract. The first of these two changes is that the club officials want the wording in such a manner that the coaches would be allowed to force unwanted players to train away from the first team. And secondly, they want that high wage players will have to pay a new solidarity tax.

As said by Serie A President Maurizio Beretta, "The text signed by the players' association can't be signed if those two points are not integrated". And therefore, there are chances that this season delays.

Well it has been already announced by the players, earlier this month, that if a new collective contract is not signed before the season opens, then they will not strike.
