Netflix Plans to Explore Spain, Britain

Netflix is planning to establish itself in Spain and Britain in the first 6 months of 2012 and has plans to establish itself in various other European countries and Asia.

The Chief Executive of the Company, Reed Hastings reveals that previous year the Company had launched itself in Canada and in July it declared to explore 43 Latin American countries by the end of 2011.

Presently, Netflix is in discussion with the studios about attaining the legal rights to expand and establish in Spain and Britain in the first half of 2012. Though a move into Britain is expected to work in their favor, working in Spain will be a problem because piracy is out of control and unemployment rate is higher by 20% in comparison to other parts of Europe.

DVD sales are very low in the country and there is no real digital download business. Apple Inc.'s iTunes Store doesn't sell movies and TV shows in Spain. The establishment will experiment the willingness of people in spending $8 every month for watching movies for free at home and that too with a good quality and easily available.

At present, the Company has 25 million subscribers in the US and Canada. However, the Company expects to see a fall in subscription in the coming time because of increase in the price of online video contents by 60%.
