Spain Calls for Early Elections

It has been revealed according to recent reports that the Prime Minister of Spain, Mr. Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has called for an early election, about four months earlier than the set date.
This has been done in order to make the most out of the slight upward movement that has been seen in the opinion poll ratings in the recent times. It is expected that the winner of these polls might be Mariano Rajoy; the analysts are however concerned by what margin the win would be accomplished.
Zapatero on the other hand is unpopular among the crowds and is not considered to be a likely wining choice in this season’ elections."I'm not convinced an election alone, even if it creates a fairly stable new government, will calm down markets. What we've seen in the last 18 months is that there are events that have a short-term impact on the markets”, said David Bach, an economist at IE business school.
The results of the poll shall decide what turn the politics of the nation would take in the time to come. It was further added, "The markets will probably respond positively initially until they realize there might not be an alternative plan as people had hoped for”.
