Government May Announce an English Badger Cull

Authorities are expected to make an announcement about the badger culling in England, with in next few days. It is anticipated that the awaited verdict will be to sanction a licensed cull and will be organised and paid for group of farmers in TB areas.

Farming Minister, Jim Paice, has addressed the issue wisely and assured that the decision would be a collective cabinet decision.

While responding to the Farmers Weekly during an interview at the Cereals event Mr. Paice notified that in July, government will announce an English badger cull."If, and it has to be an if, there is a decision to go ahead with a badger cull, we know full well that there will be a judicial review - the Badger Trust has confirmed that - and we then need to go through some further stages", added Mr. Paice.

Chief Scientific Adviser Bob Watson and Chief Vet Nigel Gibbens, in collaboration with team of experts within Defra have concluded that culling can impart a positive impact on cattle diseases, if conducted properly, reported The Financial Times.

However, they have warned that if culling is not conducted in a spontaneous manner then it could impart some unexpected result.
