President Obama has recently announced about the draw downing of US forces from Afghanistan due to large number of casualties and the poor state of the economy post which several other NATO countries have also started making plans to scale back their presence in the war torn country.
Spain has recently join the list by announcing that it will start withdrawing it’s 1500 troops that it has in Afghanistan from the first quarter of 2012. The announcement was made by the Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero following the European Union summit in Brussels on Friday.
According to the reports, the Americans are financing the entire military expenditure worth $110 billion per year in Afghanistan and the hopes are high that the pull back start by America will be followed by the people in other NATO countries also, who are already against deployment and would start raising their demand for similar action by their governments once the Americans make the start.
Reports have also revealed that Mr. Obama has planned to withdraw 10,000 troops by the end of the year and will be withdrawing further 23,000 troops by the end of next summer, which has won him immediate support from France's president.
