On Thursday afternoon, in Valencia, Spain, the Real Club Nautico de Valencia and Italy’s Green Comm Racing has announced their joint challenge the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco in 2013. The challenging club will be Real Club Nautico de Valencia (RCNV) of Spain and it will be Green Comm Racing team’s operational base. More partners of the America’s Cup will be announced shortly.
The list of competitors for the America’s Cup World Series does not include Team Yachting Australia, which had announced its challenge for the Cup in February.
For the first time in America’s Cup, a team from one country will be challenging yacht club of another. Green Comm Racing said that it will be receiving the new AC45 in July, so that they can increase their training sessions ahead of the first AC race in Cascais, Portugal.
The main aim of Green Comm Racing is to promote and manage the “Green Revolution” by influencing the media impact of international sport’s oldest trophy. The leader of the team, Francesco De Leo, said that the team members are young, dynamic and have an excellent track record in Olympic classes.
