Spain is all set to get more digitalized going to add three new multiplexes to Spain’s Digital-Terrestrial Platform (DTT). Therefore, Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce is looking for national analogue to get over shortly on April 3.
A complete new mux will be obtained by National public broadcaster RVTE (Spanish Radio and Television Corporation), offering the broadcaster to two muxes, which means 8 digital channels and on the other hand, National private broadcasters such as Mediaset’s Telecinco, Sogecable's Cuatro, Grupo Planeta's Antena 3 and Mediapro's laSexta will also have a complete mux i. e. 4 digital channels each.
Moreover, RTVE is also aiming to introduce a cultural channel Canal Cultura and HDTV channel TVE HD. Canal Cultura already broadcasts on cable as well as satellite and TVE HD is as of now at the testing period.
Mediapro and Sogecable could introduce a sports pay-DTT channel and Canal+ on DTT platform respectively. A version of sports pay DTT already-existing in soccer channel Gol TV.
National broadcasters can also have a HD DTT channel, which will transmit simulcast programming but this possibility looks far away at the moment. At present, there is only one HD channel being launched by the major broadcasters but that, Gol TV HD, only exists on cable.
