Spain hopes 2020 growth strategy EU helm

Foreign Minister of Spain, Miguel Angel Moratinos, said that the country (Spain) will try to find an approach for recession-hit European economic systems to come up in the next decade, when it takes over the EU presidency from January 1.
While talking to reporters, Miguel Angel Moratinos said, “The most important goal is a coordinated exit from the economic crisis and establishing a sustainable growth strategy for European countries for the horizon of 2020.”
Spain has been among the European nations worst hit by the worldwide recession.
Laying out the priorities for Spain's 6-month presidency, Moratinos also disclosed an determined personal objective.
Moreover, he said, “Personally, I would like to agree with all of the parties the recognition of Palestine as a state. I know (six months) isn't much time, but we're going to work at it.”
Meanwhile, the minister added that the country will work in the process of improving EU ties with Morocco and Cuba. The presidency’s first summit will be with Morocco on March 8, 2010 in Granada.
The minister added that this is a very important summit, with tremendous symbolic and historic value, as it’s the first summit held among Morocco and the EU.
