Riders protest after spending Christmas stranded in an airport

A huge protest took place at Madrid’s Barajas airport between Air Comet passengers who remain stranded in the terminal because of the airline’s suddenly going out of business.

Passengers from Argentina and Colombia, who were due to fly home for Christmas few days ago, have been told that they may be able to leave the country on the eve of New Year.

But if they aren’t ready to wait till the time announced by the authorities, they have to purchase new air tickets.

Thus far, flights have been thrown on by other companies to return some of the travelers to Latin America, but not all of them have been able to find seats.

Around 30 passengers were due to fly to Bogotá and Buenos Aires told that they were never informed that the Ministry of Public Works had set-up a flight to the Argentinean capital with 70- free seats, forcing them to spend the festive period in an airport.

However, the protestors jammed the main road of the airports holding banners and chanting.

Meanwhile, passengers from Argentina, who were due to fly to Spain for holidays with their families, were struck at the Buenos Aires due to Air Comet’s license having been drawn back at a moment’s notice.
