Spain wins Davis Cup with 5-0

Spain clicked a 5-0 Davis Cup final victory over the Czech Republic with Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer both enjoying easy singles wins at Palau Sant Jordi.

Spain was aiming for a clean-sweep, having already won the title for the fourth successive year since 2000 and becoming the first country in the world since Sweden in 1998 to win the title.

Nadal & Australian Open champion lifted the opening set 6-3. Nadal then successfully placed Spain 4-0 ahead by taking the rubber 6-3, 6-4 to finish what had been an injury-hit season on a high note.

Moreover, in the last match of the final, Ferrer faced Lukas Dlouhy. He lifted the opening set by 6-4 in just 31 minutes. And, 27 minutes later, the game was finished, as Ferrer closed out a straight forward 6-4, 6-2 to lift the title on the indoor clay.
