Resources all set to invest RM400M in Capex by 2012

Agro-based food producer QL Resources Bhd has recently announced to invest around RM400 million in capital expenditure (capex) by 2012, largely to promote the subsisting plant and machinery as well as to develop new plants in Vietnam and Indonesia.

While talking to media, the managing director of the company, Chia Song Kun, said that the spending would be used to further increase its core business sections, namely integrated livestock farming, marine product manufacturing and palm oil activities.

Barry Callebaut to acquire Spanish rival Chocovic

Barry Callebaut, the world's largest chocolate maker, announced that it is going to buy its Spanish rival Chocovic from Nederland Group.

The details regarding the acquisition were not disclosed yet, but, the deal is expected to occur by the end of 2009.

Barry Callebaut said in a statement that the acquisition is a part of its plan to expand core business with industry and with artisans, and to increase its geographical reach.

Chocovic possess a specialization in chocolate and other products for industry and for artisanal customers.
