Flood causes havoc in Assam

Delhi soon to get nation’s waste-to-power plant
The nation’s capital will soon have the country's first commercial waste-to-power plant of 16 MW capacity. Aiming at conversion of one third of Capital's garbage into much-needed electricity for six lakh homes, this move falls in place.
In further light of this move Delhi’s Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit today has placed the foundation of the Timarpur-Okhla Municipal Solid Waste Management Project. The project shall convert 2000 tonnes of municipal solid waste in to generation of 16 MW of power.

Monsoon showers in Pune, Maharashtra has brought in mixed emotions and has sparked fears of Swine Flu cases in the city that happens to affect 245th victim of the virus early this week.
It was just last Monday when a pregnant lady expired of Swine Flu in the government Sassoon hospital making it the 32nd casualty of the city out of the 62 deaths reported in the last three months in Maharashtra.
Two injured, several stuck under landslide: Mumbai
The landslide caused due to continuous rains has injured two 21-year-old youths at the suburban Ghatkopar.
The victims Hiralal Talesar and Amrut Umavat soon after the incident were rushed to Rajwadi hospital where they are recuperating. The Fire officials stated that the occurrence of the landslide occurred at 17.30 hours at Vijay Nagar slums at Jeevandaya lane.
A similar incident came from Valmiki Nagar in Kurla at 6.43 am, however no reports of accidents or any causalities came up but 24 houses were evacuated and people were shifted to a temporary shelter for safety purpose.
Government to justify petrol prices hike

World leaders have arrived in Toronto to attend the G8 summit. There will be a top level meeting for three days. The G8 (Group of Eight) industrialized nations and the G20 (Group of 20) top world economies will participate in this summit.
The G8 summit is expected to focus on the security and development of the nations.

Railways plans Technology express
In a bid to spread the word of awareness about the development of technology in the nation, Indian Railways has decided to release a 'Technology Express' in the near future.
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee stated: "We will launch Technology Express soon to showcase the progress we have made in technology. The train will be starting from IIT-Kharagpur and travel across the country," reports came soon after flagging off the Commonwealth Express here.
Coconut trail to attract tourists

Actress Manisha Koirala Ties the Knot with Nepalese Businessman
Bollywood’s popular actress, Manisha Koirala tied the knot with Nepalese businessman, Samrat Dahal in a traditional ceremony, on Friday. The marriage was attended by the family and close friends.
The wedding ceremonies were spread over three days and were conducted by the priests of Hindu temple at forest resort, just outside the capital of Nepal, Katmandu, Sridhar Pokharel.
The elaborate marital celebrations, which started on Friday, would be brought to a close with a grand reception in Katmandu on Sunday.

Kohli has asked both the stars to resist their temptation for just three weeks, till Imran’s new film I Hate Luv Storys is released. He said the only motive behind this ban is that people should not be confused about both the movies. Eminent actor, Anupam Kher has left the movie, Dear Friend Hitler. He has said that he wants to respect his fans.
He said that he had thought about the role and presentation of the character very well, but even then there are some factors, which may hurt his fans. He has revealed that his fans have approached him about the issue.
“Considering the ill-will that the project is generating among my fans, I wish to withdraw from it as I respect their sentiments", said the sector.

Somdev Devverman Qualifies for Wimbledon in Doubles
Indians tennis fans are excited as Somdev Devvarman and Treat Conrad Huey of the Philippines qualified for the Wimbledon doubles main draw.
The duo defeated Tomasz Bednarek and Mateusz Kowalczyk of Poland in a7-6(8), 7-5 victory in the second and the final round of Wimbledon Qualifiers.
Somdev had qualified for his first Grand Slam in the previous year in the doubles at the Wimbledon Championship.
Indian fans have another reason to be happy, as for the main draw India’s Harsh Mankad and Serbia's Ilija Bozoljac have also qualified.
